How to do a quick format in Mac OS
December 1st, 2007I wish to know how can I do a quick format in a Macintosh PC.
- Rakesh
- NOTE: Formatting erases everything on whatever media you format. Make sure to copy anything you need before formatting.
- Single-click the disk’s icon on your desktop that you wish to format.
- Pull down the “Special” menu from the top of the screen and select “Erase Disk…”
- Enter whatever label you want in the “Name:” field in the window that pops up. If the disk is a hard drive, select “Mac OS Extended” from the “Format:” pulldown. If the disk is not a hard drive but is some other removable media like Zip Disc, select “Mac OS Standard” for the format.
- Press “Erase”. The drive will be formatted in a few minutes and will be ready to be used.
