Forgot Windows XP administrator password
July 12th, 2008I installed Windows XP Professional some time back on my PC. I became the administrator, and also made another user in it. I have forgot the password of my administrator account. I did not make a password recovery disc at that time. I did not even type a hint for the password. I cannot afford to uninstall or format my drive.

There is a utility at http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html which allows you to reset the Windows XP/ Windows Vista password to whatever you choose.
Just follow the detailed instructions given there. I have used this several times and have always had success.

there is an easier way. When you start your computer and come to the login screen press “Ctrl + Alt + Del” and a new login form should pop up. then fill in your username and press Enter.
no password should be needed to login then!
when you are in the computer go to Start > Run > control userpasswords2 > then press “Reset password” then fill in the new pass!
Cya guys

One more thing… if you cant change the pass using the Start > Run > control userpasswords2… then try this method.
Start > Run > cmd > type:
net user
and wait for it to load. when you see all the usernames on the computer write in:
net user adminaccounthere *
my admin account is: admin heres an example on what to type:
net user admin *
P.S don’t forget the “*”
