I wish to change to change the folder options in Windows Vista. How do I do it?
- Mika

It works the same way as in Windows XP. Click Tools in the menu bar and click on Folder Options. If you cannot see the menu bar, you have to press the Alt-key on the keyboard and the menu bar should be visible.

Well there is a few ways to do this. (From what I’ve seen most Vista systems do not have the menu bar visible by default, which was a real pain at first but now its a cinch.) First you could use the method described above. Second you could click on the organize button (top left) to access the “folder options” from the drop-down menu (along with layout options right above “folder options”, which gives you the option to enable the menu bar manually along with a couple extra navigation helpers. Last, which is the most painful.. You could go to the control panel, under classic view, and pick folder options from there. Enjoy!

Yeah, but listen to this: I cannot make any changes to “folder options” within the Vista Ultimate (activated) on my comp. When I demand the list of options I get a message saying that I “do not have enough privileges” and that I should consult pc’s administrator. The trouble is - I AM the administrator (guest account turned off etc.)
Also, the control panel cannot be started from the start menu (isn’t reacting) so to get into it I have to “explore” “My comp.” and to choose cp’s shortcut from there. Why?

Recently updated to Service Pack 1 and sorry, but it no longer works the same way XP did. Before the SP was installed, I could get to folder options the same was as I could in XP, but not now.

If I’m missing something or something has changed, would love to know.

Just another addition to the many reasons why I’m strongly considering a Mac for the first time ever. Microsoft really screwed the pooch here.
