Crazy trick on how to use the Help function from basic Windows programs to surf the internet.

Ever find yourself sitting in front of a computer that’s been locked down by an overzealous IT administrator who won’t let you install any software or even open Internet Explorer or Firefox? If that PC is running Windows XP, there’s a good chance you can still visit the websites.

All you have to do is launch a Windows application like Calculator, and then click the Help button. Under Help, click “Help Topics,” which will bring up a help window. Next, all you have to do is right click on the title bar and select “Jump To URL.” Now you can type in any web address you like, but make sure to include “http://” at the beginning. Basically what you’re looking at is Internet Explorer 6 inside a help window, but this version of the program isn’t quite as smart as IE6. It won’t automatically add the http:// for you. And of course, there’s no bookmarking feature.

• NOTE: Formatting erases everything on whatever media you format. Make sure to copy anything you need before formatting.
• Single-click the disk’s icon on your desktop that you wish to format.
• Pull down the “Special” menu from the top of the screen and select “Erase Disk…”
• Enter whatever label you want in the “Name:” field in the window that pops up. If the disk is a hard drive, select “Mac OS Extended” from the “Format:” pulldown. If the disk is not a hard drive but is some other removable media like Zip Disc, select “Mac OS Standard” for the format.
• Press “Erase”. The drive will be formatted in a few minutes and will be ready to be used.

NibbleGuru.com has been relaunched with a brand new look and whole set of new features. I decided to do away with my custom code and instead start using Drupal, my favorite CMS tool.

Using Drupal will make it easier to provide a lot of new features and enhancements regularly without me having to write the code for it.
This is the biggest change since the launch of the site in 2001 and I think I can safely call it the first major change. Wondering if I should start calling it NibbleGuru 2.0 from now

I am sitting in L12, attending the session of HeadStart. HeadStart is a technology showcase event to be held in January 2008. I think it is really a good opportunity for SME’s to showcase their product.

The session seemed to be more focussed on the clash of dates of HeadStart with Proto, an another similar event and also on how the two events are different.

I am sitting in the talk on reputation management right now at Latte (L22). Not worth the time. Lets move to some other room.
